Probably the easist way to return a server to default is to perform a 
tape backup, a new fresh install and a tape restore.  This returns the 
server to default, restoring all users and data.

Of course the e-smith manager only restores the default directories 
used.  If you have custom directories you need to restore, this may be 
performed manually using flexbackup at the command line or using 
my 'just' released Restore Now manager panel.  Remember the tape backup 
is a complete backup of / and /boot so everything is on tape.
