The RedHat 7.1 driver for the Intel PRO 100 (eepro100.o) appears to be
problematic. I use AOpen MX3S motherboards which have the Intel PRO 100
on-board. Many current m/b have this as the onboard nic.
In my case I received random, intermittent hanging of the eth0
interface. Doing 'ifconfig eht0 down' and 'ifconfig eth0 up' would
recover for a short time but eventually with sustained traffic the nic
would lock up again.
The fix is to force the use of the e100.o module instead.
/sbin/e-smith/config set EthernetDriver1 e100
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event console-save
reboot
