This is a technical support question and not appropriate for this
list. It _may_ be possible to recover _some_ of the data, but you should
seek the help of a professional disk recovery service, before doing
_anything_ further with that disk.

The installation screens and the manual clearly state that data will be
lost during an install (but not an upgrade). This is why the installer 
explictly asks you to type the words "accept" and "proceed".
