Darrell, China ain't bad!
Fibre optics to your apt room. I have unlimited data and I can saturate my 100 net with almost 1,500k/sec transfers each direction - if only I had gigabit Ethernet. All for the modest sum of ~AUD$30 a month. For those that have no idea about the pacific peso, that is ~USD$18 a month. :-^) Asia I am proud to say is far ahead of northern America - Korea and Japan are even more crazily advanced than the PR China. I just wish Australia was more like it's neighbours! Don't get me started on Telstra and the adoption rate and costs of ISDN and leased lines in the late 80's and 90's and xDSL of late. Who ever said that a large govt sector is good for an economy needs their head read! But I digress. :) I use dialup for my private server as it is only used for webmail (and pptp/imap) from my home back in Australia to here and anywhere else I toddle off to. For the traffic it sees, the performance and speed is fine. And you can't beat a professional perm modem solution with full reverse dns entires and the like for AUD$10 a month from CW Optus. So I would not be too quick to bag out the old modem. It also never drops out - good thing when Telstra is your only source xdsl in Aus - you think the power situation in California is badly managed......... :) Cheers, RF. +86 1368 3268117 (mobile) [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "Darrell May" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Charlie Brady" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Brandon Friedman" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Cc: "Mitel Devinfo List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, July 21, 2002 1:11 AM Subject: Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Diald triggers > > Greg Zartman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> said: > > > I have one term for you: DSL ...
