Just as a note -- GCJ and GCC 3.0 'pre-releases' are showing up in
Debian right now. I'd LOVE to get a native daemon into the upcoming
Debian 3.0.
Fred is a great showcase for GCJ, and GCJ could really help Fred. The
only other Java server project I can think of with as high a profile
is Tomcat.
Anyways, you should get Ian to call the guys at Cygnus (?) or
whatever and offer to do lunch. He's like a big rock star (even has
the accent) and people love to do things for him, and maybe he could
convince them to do whatever it takes to make Fred work with GCJ.
