But if there is a new node being added every 3 minutes (after being up
for 24 consecutive hours), then it is unlikely that the network is

If I recall correctly, Theo did do a comparison between random routing
in a small world network, and Freenet-style directed routing, and
noticed an order-of-magnitude decrease in the number of hops required
for the latter. Now it is possible that this is not working in the
current network, which would beg the question - why not?
