Interesting.  Is this what you mean?

If so, it appears to affect Win95 & WinME too (since they're all Win9x
really).  A related Google came up with a user report saying "there have
been reports saying that setting this value to higher than 300 can cause
problems".  Similar reports suggested setting MaxConnections to 256.

It's not hard to modify the wininstaller, I'll do it when I have a chance.
I take it that guy who recently started wininstaller hacking has actually
wandered away again?
