A thought.. Why not give NGR development a couple of weeks break and try to
get muxing or something up and running in the mean time? When you have no
relly good ideas on some specific problem it can be good to move over to a
completely different matter for a while and then get back to tackling the
original hurdles with renewed energy afterwards.

Because the current situation is untenable and we have to do something to rectify it - implementing muxing probably won't fix the issues that are preventing NGR from working, and while NGR doesn't work, Freenet doesn't work.

The proposal is to release a non-NGR 0.5.3 which includes all or most other innovations since 0.5.2. This will give Toad a break from NGR while others keep working on it. It will relieve the time-pressure to get NGR working, and it will mean that Joe-user has a working version of Freenet (we hope) while those interested in helping with NGR can do-so.
