With the limit i can only contact people who already know at least
2 other people willing to try freenet out, or i have to ask my
friends to compromise their anonymity to each other (many of my
friends don't know each other), or i will have to run 3 nodes on my
computer to start with (my current plan) which will allow for us to
go around the limit, until such time when people will start finding
other links themselves.
There is no minimum limit to the number of links, Freenet will work
with just one link, but you won't be contributing back to the
network. More links is better, both for you and for the network.
