Quite a fluent update to markup the discussion with toad: the cumulative (yep, sorry for two m's in the previous review and commits in this word) acknowledgement mechanism has been enhanced and tested, as were the means for the negotiation of the best appropriate ack scheme to use between old- and new- format nodes. Seems to behave as it's supposed to be on a range of artificial tests, so made a pull-request for it, would be glad if someone reviews the changes just to make sure everything will set up smoothly.
