I'm thinking we should have a *language independent* serialization of the
datastore, so its an easy transition to new servers. I have a couple of
formats in mind, LDO (http://casbah.org/LDO) is my first choice. I wrote
the Java implementation of the serialization spec. Its quite efficient,
and has support for keyed dictionaries and lists. There are perl, C, and
python implementations as well (maybe squeak).
