I definitely think that the creation of a Java engine which supports themes would be a cool project, not just for Freenet, but generally. My company has something like this, but unfortunately they won't release under the GPL (although they do generally have an enlightened attitude about these things). At the same time, I wouldn't want people to get so into the theme engine that the rest of FGUI/FreeLoader suffers. The sooner we can make it a standard part of the distro the better - in fact, it is almost there now.
