Hi Jeff,

Love the new FreenetGUI - it is coming along beautifully and I really
want to get it into the Windows release of 0.3, a couple of points
though:

There is a bug report on Freenet-dev regarding a missing msinet.ocx
file.

While the interface is currently fine for an experienced Freenet user, I
think we need to think hard about how to make it easy to understand for
ordinary users. For example, I think details such as MB allocated and
Port to listen on are really things that should be hidden behind a
configuration screen but with simple defaults.

I think also some indication of whether the server has been started or
not, and maybe a prompt to manually start a local server if someone
tries to connect to localhost when no local server is running.

I also think that maybe the "server setup" page should be the third one
shown rather than the first since a new user might be confused by it,
and perhaps using "Tabs" to switch between these rather than a menu?

Additionally, when I start a server or make a request a DOS box is
opened which shows the details - would it be possible for FreenetGUI to
interpret the output of the insert/request/server to provide this
information to the user in a more conventional manner (maybe in a status
bar or with a dialog box for serious problems)?

Perhaps it would be valuable for you to get someone unfamiliar with
Freenet to try to use FreenetGUI without any help from you, and observe
the mistakes they make and the things which confuse them? This would
help improve the usability of the program.

All the best,

Ian.
