Just thought I'd concur with Oskar - as his (recently ex-)flatmate, I
know that Ian's had an incredible amount of press attention: >3
conferences, >5 tv appearances, >10 national/international newspapers,

In my opinion: as with most large projects, the effort and time required
to learn enough to be a useful developer is too much for most armchair
open-source enthusiasts (like myself).
