I suspect that something fishy is going on.

I am running two freenet servers on the 0.2 stable release and have noticed
the same thing happen in the recent past. Both are quite busy since they have
been around for a while and are well known to other nodes.
Both died silently (one on the 28th May and one on the 30th May). What I mean
is both appear to be running on my process list but if you keep track of the
new entries in the .freenet directory, the store_port file is getting updated
but
there are no new t# files being generated (when typically I get around 10 or so
daily). In the logs on both machines there is the line:

May 28, 2000 11:26:25 PM:Conduit.java:Error:java.io.IOException: Broken pipe

right around where they suddenly stop making t# files.
There are several more DataRequest, HandshakeRequest, etc. after that time
on the machine that logs such things but no more data being added to the stores.
It seems that the java clients don't want to run anymore on my frozen node.
Liberator runs fine and requests keys fine and these are properly added to
the stores. So the problem with my java client might just be a problem with my
java client that was always there.
The node shows a 0.0 CPU usage when it should be above 20% on my little 486/33.
Restarting the node also causes it to continue to write things to the stores.

I will keep my eyes open for another similar event.

Mike
