I just recently sent the message to the gnutella group, and I thought these
suggestions might also help the freenet development.

A few features that need to happen in my opinion.

The search needs to have more control, which would also eliminate "search
noise" for things you are not interested in.

The concept of media types or genres/sugjects need to be implemented. media
filters such as: music, movie, pictures, models, software, games etc...
this list could go on...

So when you search for "birds", you could have the filter to restrict
"birds" from only the model media type, so I do not get returns for songs,
pictures etc... only for 3d models of birds...

Also, the concept of the .lsm file would be a great option... If a user so
desired, he could have filename.lsm retrieved to get more info, like
description, url for icon image, etc... here is a sample one off of a public
server...

within this file, you could have the genere/media type and even subtypes...
and media types or standards could be added at anytime...

I realise that these are old ideas, but they would make the searching
mechanisms alot more powerful for the user, and probably lower overall
search traffic...
