As I think we currently envision it, yes, he can just post the
CHK of the direct version, which will always be that one version.
The SVK, though, is the one the user will want if he wants later
versions when they come out as well.

I don't think we can rely on users for this, but we can certainly
take advantage of it--that why, for example, I think a request for
and SVK ought to have a "minimum known revision" (or equivalently,
an "earliest acceptable insert date").
