So you actually have to start from scratch when you implement your "new" key
index in Java. Which components do you expect to build the system from?

I see it this way: I have a working, scalable server-side search engine that
can be easily transformed into a client-side search tool
(applet/standalone). In-Freenet key indices will be integrated very soon.

So unless you have some very convincing arguments, I don't see why I should
throw that away and start all over.
