The EOF project (eof.sourceforge.net) has a functioning news over Freenet
implementation and an NNTP gateway so that you can use your normal news
reader to read Freenet news. There's a lot you could do to improve this
code if you're interested. You should join the EOF dev mailing list and we
should take discussion over there.
