Does your makefile have LDFLAGS = -lcrypto at the top and
testclient: testclient.c libfreenet $(INC_FILES) $(O_FILES) Makefile
$(CC) $(CFLAGS) testclient.c -o $@ -L. -lfreenet $(LDFLAGS)
