I'd be willing to take a crack at it. In fact, I even have a great quote for the introduction - -- The real romance is out ahead and yet to come. The computer revolution hasn't started yet. Don't be misled by the enormous flow of money into bad defacto standards for unsophisticated buyers using poor adaptations of incomplete ideas. -Alan Kay -- I'm not a tex or latex guru, but I have spent a fair amount of time with docbook. Even still, I think latex might be better for the 'root' format, since there are mature tools for working with it. Lyx is one of them, but Lyx still uses its own native format internally, and is moving towards docbook as its native storage format. Time is always an issue for me, but in this case I'm confident that I can devote enough of it to keep things moving.
