My understanding of this situation (and this comes from scipient, so...)
is that doing a --resetDS doesn't wipe the node's identity, so there's
no problem bringing the node right up. My experience is that others are
able to successfully contact my node after I --resetDS, so this isn't
the problem. If you delete the .freenet directory or delete the store
some more destructive way, then you do need to update your node.

on a different note, there's some seed nodes that my node has never
successfully contacted:

tcp/64.0.135.217:18402
tcp/jaymz.artificial-stupidity.net:62813
tcp/216.174.195.192:3655
tcp/216.185.203.194:35333
tcp/66.38.8.41:14791
tcp/24.222.144.23:9504
tcp/63.149.19.60:7703
tcp/24.183.136.171:15119
tcp/131.246.251.100:54427
tcp/24.91.4.199:10764
tcp/209.142.155.49:33439
tcp/hawk.freenetproject.org:8834
tcp/208.179.100.62:27773
tcp/216.31.179.130:19115

Yes, that's 15 out of the 21 seed references that my node has *never*
been able to contact. I understand a lot more why people complain about
the seeding process being so bad.
