I think this is a great idea, and as I'm putting together a freenet
package for mac os x, I'm looking at more effective updating schemes.
What would be excelent would be to provide a way to get the latest
snapshots off of freenet itself, although I'm not sure about this
technically speaking. Is it a good idea to encourage that kind of
traffic?

Version numbers aside, Freenet is getting much better, and I tend to
think we should be thinking about trying to improve some of the things
about the project that are non datastore issues, like providing clients
under the established structure and improve the portability as much as
we can. There's a lot that less experienced coders can do to contribute
still.
