the thing is, i forgot to document a step this time. but that's not
really the big problem... the problem is, okay, that'll build on debian,
but it won't work on redhat, mandrake. but the build setup for those
won't work for debian. etc. etc. etc. etc.
this is my own stupid fault for using pytrhon 2.2 specific features... i'm
just gonna rewrite it i think to not suck like this
