Not to mention if hosts have IPv6 addresses in-use which might require 
additional processing, or if Freenet is ported to use special networking 
functions which does not use IP addresses at all (quick example which 
comes to mind could be using VLAN's and plain Ethernet frames to 
communicate).

If such address-resolving feature is added, it should be as generic (and 
optional) as possible so it does not impact the use of rest of the protocol.
