The situation appears to be VERY much improved with today's CVS.
# ps auxw | grep freenet
freenet 1009 0.6 9.2 43588 48044 p1 S 5:47PM 2:13.61
/usr/local/kaffe/jre/bin/kaffe-bin -mx 224M freenet.node.Main
# /usr/local/sbin/lsof -p 1009 | wc
29 278 2458
That's OpenBSD+Kaffe+nativeDS. My Linux+Sun+nativeDS node, which has
a much higher maximumThreads, has 119 open files. The number of open
files for the Linux node was over 300 when the problem was reported.
