I have no idea. fishtools, right now, splits any file >256k. this figure
made sense to me at the time, but ti was essentially arbitary. I can't
help that thinking the 1mb figure is really too big, howver, considering
netowrk limitations. THe only clue on the filesize I have (it's not my
file) is "around 400k".
