** OK, THIS IS PRETTY CRITICAL RIGHT NOW **

If we're going to get more and more support calls from users who don't read
the documentation, make assumptions about freenet, and then accidentally
delete gigabytes of their own files because of a backwards-compatibility
bug, we really ought to do something about it urgently. It indicates,
among other things, that

a) Users don't read documentation (and we all knew this anyway)
b) Freenet setup/configuration is unintuitive
c) Backwards-compatibility is broken

It's only a matter of time before someone, out there, attempts to set their
datastore to C:\ or C:\Windows or whatever, maybe even accidentally. Who
can even contemplate the bad press that that would generate?

hello,

I downloaded your stinking Freenet this morning and installed it with the
Node Data store path & filename at the folder with al my mp3's (around
1500 mp3's). After that I had to go away and when I came back, all my
f*cking mp3's were gone...I really hope that they still are somewhere at
my computer :) and that you can tell me where and how I get them back.

thx in advance,

someone who never wants to use your program again and will make sure that
most people in holland go fucking hate your program if I lose my
mp3's...or at least, i will try to make sure of that (you should
understand that i'm quite angry right now)
