FRED is the Freenet REference Daemon.

FCP is the Freenet Client Protocol.  FNP is the Freenet Network Protocol
(or possibly the Freenet Node Protocol).

Fproxy is a Freenet client, but it's a special case in that it's
built into the freenet.jar and doesn't use FCP for communication
with the node.
