Python on windows is no problem, you just use py2exe and be done with it.
Python on unix, however, is this great big ball of pain at times, if you've
gone and used python2.2 specific features, for eaxample. 

To illustrate:

On deban woody, python is python2.1, python2.2 is python2.2
On redhat 8, python is python 2.2
On Mandrake 8, python is python 2.1
On debian sid, python is now aparently python 2.3 

These are all subtly different, and as we saw from ian trying
to run the streamServlet.py that I did for testing teh streaming
stuff, it can really hurt you if you don't activly work around
the probelm.
