Where did i wrote that my ebuild forces Gentoo users to use icedtea6? ;-) -default jdk with a default system is sun-jdk-1.6 -if the user chooses to use some other jdk (including openjdk/icedtea6), he can try/do it. Gentoo is about choice. Maybe it is a bit harder for other distros, but this is possible for other distros too. So there is no difference between Gentoo and others: If you want to be sure it is no feature/bug from another jdk, check it.
