I'd vote for a couple of presets (e.g. 5/10/25/50), and an "Other amount" box where the user can enter any amount he would like.

It's *much* more fun when it is sent as an "official" gift from a project you've been supporting financially :). Obviously you would need to compare the cost of this gift with the amount donated (over time), but I think it will pay out in the end in terms of more donations. - Zero3
