I recently stumbled upon the project, strangely enough, through one of my 'culture-jamming' sites that I frequent. I noticed that you were in the process of transferring data from the old wiki to the new one. I went onto the IRC channel, asked a bunch of general newbie questions, and asked about the wiki. I offered my help and 'pos' said "go for it".
Ok, now here's the thing...A number of pages have already been transferred over. The problem is that the OLD wiki is still being added to. This creates a problem of newer data not being represented on the NEW wiki. FIRST OFF, I would suggest that someone with admin access LOCK the OLD wiki, and put up a note on the main page telling people to please submit changes to the new wiki. (YES, i understand that all the pages have not been transferred over...I will get to that as quickly as I am able.) Perhaps a cut-off date could be implemented, informing people that a final date for entries to the OLD WIKI will be on such-and-such date, and that any further entries MUST be directed to the new wiki, as the old one will be locked off. I used to be an editor for "Uncyclopedia", so I do have some basic knowledge of how a wiki works. I can, and will, start moving the wiki entries over as quickly as I can. As for the kiddies vandalizing the pages, and the constant reverts, I'm pretty sure you guys (right now) only get that when Freenet happens to have an article published about it. You get an increase in new members, and consequently, get a rash of vandalized pages....that comes with the territory. IF OR WHEN Freenet becomes more 'mainstream' (lol), you will have to deal with a barrage of kiddies wacking away at the pages (there is a 'kiddie hour' almost every nite on Uncyclopedia, and reverts, huffing pages and ip blocks are being done as quickly as possible by members). I mention this only because AFTER all the data has been moved, templates created, pages prettied up, etc...you might want to consider locking a great many of the pages off. Contributors can still add information thru the 'discussion' tab, and it would be up to an Admin to change the locked off pages with the new info....or not, I guess that would have to be a subject for later. I digress...anyway, IF there is anything I need to know about the old wiki pages/new pages...let me know. I won't touch anything for a few days, so that the main people that have been doing the job (you know who you are) can respond. I created a user-page on the new wiki...my name is Finnius there. (Actually my name has been 'Finnius' since the old BBC days..omg i'm OLD!...i am 'the original finn'...'the fishy one'...lol i have had many nicknames over the years) Richard (finnius)
