I'm happy to announce that testing releases of our installer and tray app for Windows, with support for 64-bit Java and some other general improvements are now available :) A quick overview of the changes: * The installer can now detect/install a 64-bit Java runtime if necessary * The tray app will prefer running Freenet with the 64-bit Java runtime if one is installed, but fall back to 32-bit * New wrapper binaries for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows are included with the installer, built by CI infrastructure * The installer will now refuse to alter an existing installation, instead users will be offered a chance to check for updates using update.cmd That last point should fix a constant source of support requests and broken nodes. Users often attempt to update or fix an issue with their Freenet installation by running the installer again, which breaks things even further. The update.cmd script should be able to update things even if the node itself doesn't work for some reason, and can often fix minor issues as well. The testing releases, along with instructions for using them on new or existing Freenet installations, are available below. Note: the files are signed with my GPG key, which is in the Freenet release keyring available on the website. However the binaries themselves are not signed with our Authenticode certificate.
