Please, remember that XeTeX often makes use of fonts installed in the system that are not part of TeX distribution. You have to install them separately. Fonts Nakula and Sahadeva were created by John Smith and are available from http://bombay.indology.info/software/fonts/devanagari/index.html I have just made a directory /usr/share/fonts/JohnSmith, put nakula.ttf and sahadeva.ttf in it and ran fc-cache as root. be sure that the directory as well as the ttf files are readable by everybody. When done you can run XeTeX again even without restarting Xorg.
