Ah ok, you didn't mention your original goal before. You should create a new issue for that one and start it with the intention of creating a hash over all contacts - then we can discuss there.
This issue can stay for the use case of getting created and updated data for contacts. Do you have any code for iOS you can share? (I have a use case in the near future for this, so I am very interesting in having this, even when only on iOS.)
