Thanks for the response @mjsax. According to the [KIP Documentation](https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Kafka+Improvement+Proposals), it outlines that it covers major changes to `Kafka`. I would argue that this is not a major change, since no functionality changes. The only change that occurs is how the configuration is built. Do you agree?
