I depends what part you are calling wiki engine, if it's only about interpreting/produce wiki syntax without the database part, that's pretty easy to do since rendering module has been designed to be used outside of XWiki. See http://code.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Modules/RenderingModule#HUsingtheRenderingmoduleoutsideofXWiki for details. It's supposed to be also possible for the WYSIWYG with a little more effort for now but i don't know it very well.
