As far as I can understand, it seems that somewhere in the past, the style mechanism worked as it is described in the documentation page (http://platform.xwiki.org/xwiki/bin/view/AdminGuide/Configuration#HCustomizingthePDFexportLook26Feel), but it now doesn't.
