That could be interesting to reset assigned issues if left assigned for over a
period of months.
This is certainly doable using the Script Runner (see
https://jamieechlin.atlassian.net/wiki/display/GRV/Script%20Runner).
Now some users (including myself) use JIRA as a reminder of stuff they’d like
to work on, and thus unassigning myself means I’ll loose tracks of these issues
or I need to move them to some personal tracking system to remember them. I
don’t have an idea ATM to solve this.
Also, it’s not because an issue is assigned to someone that nobody should work
on it. If a committer or a contributor find an issue that they’d like to fix
and see that someone is already assigned but has not been active for a long
time, they should ask in comment if the person is active and barring any quick
response, assign it to themselves/send a PR for it.
