>From the CordovaSim perspective the tutorials should be fine - I tested CordovaSim some time ago against cordova 5.x.x API. One thing to mention - Ripple (the upstream project CordovaSim falls back on) was retired from Apache incubation due to lack of activity and was moved to another non-apache repository[1] for further maintenance / development.
