from /var/log/messages:

after i changed from exit() to warn() in discover_interfaces(),this
is what i see:
Mar 17 05:00:53 localhost dhclient: teql0: unknown hardware address type 0
Mar 17 05:00:53 localhost dhclient: gre0: unknown hardware address type 778
it still complains (and has a chance to complain about another pseudo interface
for gre tunneling) but continues on and things work just fine.
