Okay, so are you talking to a cable modem, or an ADSL line, or what?
Have you arranged for the ISC client to send the same client
identifier and hostname that the Win95 box is sending? If you'd been
running 2.0b1pl19, I would have wanted to explore the possibility that
I'd broken something, but from what you're telling me it looks like
the server just isn't paying attention to your client. Try adding
the following to your /etc/dhclient.conf:
send dhcp-client-identifier 1:0:10:5a:9d:da:de;
send hostname "MYHOSTNAME";
Where MYHOSTNAME is the Windows machine's WINS hostname as you've
configured it. I'd tell you what dialog box that's in, but I'm
afraid I'm clueless... :'(
