The problem was because I had a slightly older dia-library install -- my
fault, of course.  What it did was open a window to complain, except
something went wrong in that window, so it opened a window to complain, but
something went wrong... you get the drift.  Anyway, with the newer library
correctly installed, it is just beautiful.
