I have converted the custom shape code to a static library that is linked into the main dia executable. I also added a shape defined in XML to the flowcharts sheet as an example. It should now be easy for people who don't know C to fill out the network sheets in dia. There are some instructions on creating new shapes in the file objects/custom/README.
