This was probably meant for dia-list, not dia-list-request.

Dear dia developers,

I currently use dia to document my work on the berlin
project. Therefor I use mostly UML diagrams. However, often
I want to include simple vector graphics to represent
schematically things like the scene graph, a stack of objects
or other things like that.
In this context, I'd very much appreciate if dia would support
a bit more *simple* vector drawing stuff like found in xfig for
example or IPE. Here is a list of what I miss most:

* filled polygons, courves etc.

* rotation, scaling and other transformations

* advanced snapping functionality (to curve, to intersection, to point...)

* in general, I like the idea of being able to edit the data by hand
if ever I can't do what I need with a graphical tool. So a popup presenting
*all* the data of a given object would be ideal (see both, xfig and IPE)

I think it would well be worth adding this to make dia a full vector drawing
tool. I'm well aware that this was not the initial goal of dia but I think at
this point it would fit nicely with the other already supported functionality.

Also, I find some buggy behavior when using alignment like equal distance or
adjacency. In particular, it can be confusing if you arrange objects by hand
then call 'align equal distance' and the order of the objects changes since
dia has it's own idea about which objects to place next to each other (probably due
to creation order).

In any case, it's a very nice tool, good work !

Regards, Stefan
