Well the first one is easy -- you can double click on the selected object.
If you want a keyboard shortcut, right click and release the mouse, hold
the mouse over the dialog/properties menu item and press the key
combination you want to use.
Scaling groups should not be too difficult to implement. I haven't looked
closely, but it probably just isn't implemented yet.
