It has been a while since the last release of dia, and I if it would be a
good time to make a new release.
There are a number of unfinished features in the current tree (the main
one being the new properties code), but what we have is currently quite
usable (the objects that don't implement the properties interface are not
broken or anything). In fact, due to a number of bug fixes the current
CVS version is a bit stabler.
There are also a number of new features as well:
- new shapes (a lot from Cyrille)
- fixed up fit to page, and added fit to multiple pages
- optionally show page breaks on diagram
- CGM export filter fixes (I did a little, Henk Jan Priester did a lot)
- SVG export filter fixes -- handles images now
- EPS filter uses scaling value from page setup dialog
- high quality anti aliased libart renderer (alex)
- PNG export filter (I just checked this in -- needs libart renderer and
libpng, which pretty much means gnome support).
- resizable toolbox
- Win32 port (Hans Breuer)
There are also a number of other bug fixes I haven't mentioned here.
So what do you think? Should we make a release now, or wait till the
unfinished features are done? If we do make a new release now, I can't
promise that the properties interfaces will be the same in the release
after that, but that is not a problem for people who just use dia.
James.
