--Dear Drew and others: It may be that you live in an area where your local cable company or other utility has made a "sweetheart deal;" with a local government. In WNY where I reside, the cable company made an exclusive deal with the city government to build a call center here and provide local jobs at the expense of prohibiting competing companies, i.e. DSL providers with providing infrastructure and services that would encourage competition for services and henceforth, lower prices. The local headquarters was never built however, due to the fact that the Corporation CEO and others were recently tried for fraud and embezzlement and the company went into Chapter Reorg. So not only did we not get the "thousands" of jobs that were promised for our economically disadvantaged community, but we still have no competing options for high speed internet providers. Our fixed prices are outrageously overblown and we have no options except to move. It might be in your best interest to see if "technology redli! ning" has been happening in your area. Best of luck, Susan Crane-Sundell SUCB Susan Crane-Sundell [EMAIL PROTECTED] ---- "Drew wrote: > Andy Carvin suggested I send my question and problem to this list I am > asking a question about getting a phone company to tell me if they will > ever have DSL in my area.
