Thanks very much Franck. Please do something to improve the English language
interface so that non-French speakers can also get the maximum benefit from
this service.

In this line, I would like to add that, in France, the CNRS (national
research agency covering almost all disciplines) with INRIA (nationtal
agency for computer science) started a few years ago an ArXive like
system, called Hal. The system is automatically connected to ArXiv, but
covers more disciplins. There are articles in physics and maths, but also
education, history, archeology, computer science, etc.. The metadata are
more structured than in ArXiv, so that automatic extractions of the
production of laboratories, institutes, universities, etc.. is possible.
It can also provide multiple environments, and create "collections", etc..
You can have a look at:
http://hal.ccsd.cnrs.fr/
but, unfortunately, for lack of time the English version of the interface
is not very good for the moment. The whole archive is only starting, and
for the moment contains altogether about 10 000 full text documents, which
is only the beginning, but the input flux is constantly increasing.
best wishes
Franck
